Kodingareng Keke Island

Location of Object
Kodingareng Keke Island located in Sub-District of Ujungtanah, Makassar. The distance is about 8.37 miles or 13.48 kilometers from the coastal city of Makassar.

Overview
Kodingareng Keke Island is one of 11 islands in the archipelago range called spermonde shelf in Makassar. The islands stretching from eastern to the western with one hectare wide. Composed from white sand and diverse of coral fraction.

Around the islands is a shallow waters. At the lowest tide, there is a wide plains, especially in the western waters area. The depth is varies between five to 20 meters. While eastern and southern waters area are a cruise way in and out of Port of Makassar.

With the clear waters without city waste contamination, Kodingareng Keke is an ideal location for snorkeling or diving. Witness the beauty and diversity of coral reef marine biota in the seabed. The condition of coral reefs and marine biota in the vicinity of the island is still intact and original.

Meanwhile, on the beach, white sand unfold. Tourist can enjoy sunbathing during the day. Feel breezy wind and nature voice caused friction of pine leafs. Relax or enjoy the beautiful moon at night and the sparkling panorama of Makassar, far outside there.

This island is inhabited. No population there. Since 2001, some cottages has been standing there. Cost per night is quite cheap, much cheaper than hotel stay fare. Made of natural wood. So impressed. Condition of the cottages are very clean and well.

Access
No regular cruise there. But 40 HP motorboat is available to rent at POPSA pier. The tariff is Rp 300 thousand per cruise. Trip to the island takes about 40 minutes.
